What Personal Information We Collect

We collect personal information necessary to provide our financial services, including your name and contact details, identity number and date of birth, medical aid membership details, insurance policy information, financial information relevant to your needs, and employment details where relevant to group schemes.

Some of what we collect is special personal information under section 26 of POPIA, because it concerns your health. This includes whether you belong to a medical aid or have gap cover, your experience of claiming, and your reasons for not having medical cover. We process it only with your consent, given under section 27(1)(a), or where the law otherwise allows it. You may withdraw that consent at any time using the contact details above.

Needs Discovery (“Get Started”)

Our Get Started tool asks a short series of questions so we can point you at the areas of cover worth looking at. It is general information, not financial advice, and it is not a recommendation about any specific product.

What it asks. Your life stage, your circumstances (whether you have a partner, dependants, a home, a vehicle or a business), which types of cover you already have, and how soon you want to act. If you have medical aid we ask how claiming has gone; if you do not, we ask what has stood in the way. If you answer for a business we ask about staff, partners, debt, key people and assets instead.

What we do with it. Your answers stay in your own browser while you use the tool. Nothing is sent to us and no lead is created unless you fill in the enquiry form at the end and tick the consent box. If you do, we store your answers alongside your name, email address and phone number so an adviser can pick up where you left off instead of starting the conversation again.

What we never send to analytics. Our analytics records only that a step was completed and how many areas were shown. No answer, and no area you were shown, is ever included in an analytics event.

Who sees it. The Care Line advisers who handle your enquiry. It is not shared with medical aid schemes, insurers or any other third party unless you later ask us to apply for a product on your behalf, at which point we will tell you what needs to be shared.

How long we keep it. For as long as we are dealing with your enquiry, and thereafter for the period our record-keeping obligations under the FAIS Act require. You may ask us to delete it sooner using the contact details above, and we will do so unless the law requires us to keep it.

Source of Personal Information

We receive personal information directly from you (via forms, phone calls, emails, or WhatsApp messages), from medical aid schemes and insurance providers in the course of administering your products, and from our website through cookies and analytics tools.

Purpose of Processing

We process your personal information to fulfil our contractual obligations to you, comply with regulatory requirements (FAIS Act, FICA, POPIA), respond to your enquiries and provide requested services, send you relevant service communications, and improve our products and services.

Third Parties We May Share With

We may share your personal information with medical aid schemes and insurance providers (to process applications and claims), employers (for group scheme administration, with your consent), IT service providers (for website hosting and communication tools), auditors and compliance officers, and regulatory authorities (FSCA, Information Regulator) as required by law.

International Transfers

Some of our service providers may store data on servers located outside South Africa. Where this occurs, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect your personal information in accordance with POPIA requirements.

Your Rights as a Data Subject

Under POPIA, you have the right to:

• Request access to the personal information we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate personal information
• Request deletion of your personal information (subject to legal obligations)
• Object to the processing of your personal information
• Withdraw previously given consent
• Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator
